Matthew is an emerging artist who has swiftly made a name for himself, having exhibited in 4 shows in the last 5 months in both New York and most recently in Amsterdam. His work can currently be seen at Toon gallery on Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam.

 

Matthew is deeply interested in what he calls a sense of "primal biology". Despite knowing what our bodies are made of and the machinations of physiology, we still find each other beautiful. He explores this concept by giving birth to evolutionary anomalies, beings that appear complete and able to reproduce, but with the distinct sense that they are entirely unique and will never be seen again. He calls it "bio-surrealism".
